What is the Simple Past Tense?

The Simple Past tense is used to talk about actions or states that happened at a specific point in the past or over a period of time in the past.

How to Form the Simple Past Tense:

• Regular Verbs: Add -ed to the base form of the verb.

  • Example: play -> played, work -> worked, study -> studied

• Irregular Verbs: These verbs have special past tense forms that you need to memorize.

  • Example: go -> went, see -> saw, eat -> ate
