Using Some and Any with Count and Noncount Nouns

The words "some" and "any" are used to indicate quantity. However, the way they are used with count and noncount nouns is different.

Some is used with both count and noncount nouns to indicate a positive quantity.
- With count nouns: "I have some apples." (Eu tenho algumas maçãs.)
- With noncount nouns: "I have some water." (Eu tenho alguma água.)
Any is used with both count and noncount nouns to indicate a negative or uncertain quantity.
